Julio Lopez is a creative musician and music teacher living on Tohono O’odham land / Tucson, AZ. They are interested in sound as thought and thought as sound. Their work orients towards ideas around repertoire (cherished knowledge), ornaments, and emptiness.


Current projects include:
– solo work for voice and electronics
– voice & guitar songs sifting through “American” popular and folk musics
– voice and electronics in distortion moth, a collaboration with emmaline saunders exploring grief, luminosity, and queer harmonics through sound and performance
– guitar for Dactyls, Tucson quartet playing sad jazz fusion
